Welcome to RGV! Our forum is a moderated community that has some reasonable rules we ask that you follow in order to keep our forums mature, fair and friendly. You must agree to follow these rules in order to join our forum. If you are a new member, please feel free to make a post introducing yourself to the community in the appropriate forum. We invite you to first browse the forums and get a feel for how RGV is organized. If you have an immediate question to post, we strongly advise you first use the advanced search feature as the RGV forums have several years of video game knowledgebase and there is a very good chance your question has been asked many times before. You can get answers to most of your questions instantly with no waiting! Some of our forums also have frequently asked questions (FAQs) that can be found ‘stuck’ at the top of the forum list that make for a good starting reference.
Creating New Posts
Members are free to post replies in any threads or create new posts in the forums. Always try to make meaningful and complete posts and try to select the appropriate forum. At times, moderators may move your post to another forum that is more suitable for the topic you have posted. Please try to use a descriptive title for your post, something like “Need Help!” is not useful and will cause many experienced members to skip your post. Although RGV members receive different status titles depending on the number of posts members have, we do not encourage members to post just for the sake of posting. Doing so will result in deletion of your posts, warnings, and possibly membership suspension. Examples of meaningless posts are: What did you have for breakfast today? It is so hot here. Please create only one single post for your topic – do not ‘spam’ multiple forums by created multiple threads or links to posts in other sub-forums without the permission of the forum administrator.
Posting in the Appropriate Forum & Avoiding Off-Topic Replies
Members are to respect the designated topics for each forum when posting their messages. This includes lobby, classified, or any other sort of posting that does not directly go along with the topic that has been designated for that forum. Those who post messages that do not relate to the topic area will have their threads moved. Please stay on topic; when a thread goes off-topic the valuable information within is often lost and difficult to find with the search feature later on. Do not reply to one person in the thread about something totally unrelated. Please use the RGV private message feature to contact.
Personal Attacks
While we encourage lively debates and discussions, we will not tolerate personal attacks of any kind. Any person attacking another forum member will receive a warning and may have their offensive posts removed. One more offense and the offending member will be permanently suspended from RGV. Any member that physically threatens another member, vendor or moderator on RGV will result in an immediate automatic suspension. We all want to have good conversations and gaming experience with out being attacked personally. Name calling and insults will not be tolerated. Members are certainly going to disagree from time-to-time, but the disagreement should be about the topic not the person posting. Please keep debates factual and constructive and keep in mind you can always ‘agree to disagree’ rather than enter into a heated argument.
Respectful communication in general
Don't resort to Timmy tactics. No slurs about race, gender, religion, politics, sex, etc. We're not trying to police people's personal beliefs, but there's no reason to mix that stuff up with gaming.
Response to Comments
If you have a problem with another member's comments in a posted thread, do not respond with any further comments that will aggravate the situation. Reacting to a hostile post with more hostility also puts you in jeopardy, and puts you at risk for action against your account even if it was initially another member’s fault – it takes two to argue. Members have three options of recourse: Use the report button, Email or private message the moderators of the forum in which the offensive comment is posted, directing them to the individual and thread in which the problem occurs. Moderators will look into the issues and take the appropriate actions.
Resolve the problem between both of you via email or Private Message (PM).
Forum Inactivity
We appreciate all the current members and new members we receive on the forum and look forward to meeting each and every one of your gaming needs through our discussion forums, however, we will have members that will join and then fail to continue on with RGV for whatever reason. In that event, RGV will hold open a membership up to six months without activity in the forums. In the event your membership is closed due to inactivity, you will need to reapply in order to reinstate your membership.
Gaming Expectations
At no time will any form of cheating, hacking, boosting or miss use of the gaming system or game be used. As a member of RGV, you represent the group as a whole and must conduct yourself as to reflect this. RGV was designed for people to come together in a relaxed, non competitive environment and enjoy the games the way they were designed. If proof is found of having cheated, hacked, boosted or miss used the gaming system or game these are the actions that can and will be imposed:
1st offense: Written warning
2nd offense: Ban for 1 week
3rd offense: Banned from the RGV forums
This includes but is not limited to spawn camping and/or team killing. Anything that takes away or spoils another persons gaming experience will not be tolerated. Take criticism and being killed with maturity. Sometimes we're on different sides, and so don't take it personally when someone in RGV kills you. Remember...it's not always "us versus them", sometimes it's us versus us, depending on matchmaking and game type. When we make a mistake, don't go overboard on criticism and likewise try to take criticism in a positive manner.
Age Requirement
Due to issues on other gaming sites we have decided as a group that you at least
must be 25 years old to belong to the forums. We do realize that there are people under 25 that do act like adults and do not cause problems for other members but to minimize the problems we had to have a minimum age.
In the event a current member is discovered to be underage, so long as they have not had warnings placed on their profile, then they may be placed in a Sponsorship Program so long as an RGV member who has been with RGV for at least thirty days and is also 25 or older, will agree to sponsor the underage member. The sponsorship will remain in effect for thirty days. The sponsor will be responsible for reporting any concerns with the underage member to the Membership Group for review.
Membership Group
The RGV Membership Group are a group of volunteers to help facilitate discussion on RGV and they interpret and enforce our forum rules. They should not to be argued with in public when enforcing forum rules and guidelines. All members are welcome to speak with the Membership Group their concerns in a polite and calm manner in private. If you have a complaint, you can contact the administrator.
The Membership Group are here by choice alone, and have been bestowed the privilege of maintaining this wonderful site, and acting on direct authority from the Administrators to enforce the rules, regulations, etiquette, and desired environment. Harassment of the Membership Group and Administrators may result in immediate suspension of your access to our forum.
If you have any questions, concerns, comments, or issues with a Membership Group decision, DO NOT create a post, please contact an Administrator via PM.
In closing…
